105.2 The Bridge makes history at Stourbridge Rugby Club by Paul Smith

Radio station 102.5 The Bridge made history at Stourbridge Rugby Club, during the recent National 1 encounter with Redruth.

Their live commentary from Stourton Park, is thought to be the first in the club’s 133 year history.

Commentary duties were shared by the Bridge’s sporting specialists, Adam Parkes, normally the host of the Saturday afternoon Black Country Sport show, and Alex Totney.

Adam and Alex were supported with the station’s first live rugby broadcast, by Write Angle Media’s Paul Smith and Stourbridge player Ben Griffiths.

Smith, who is the rugby and cricket specialist at Write Angle, the midlands leading sport press and PR agency, provided expert analysis and summaries alongside the injured back row forward.

A large number of spectators tuned into the commentary inside the ground, ensuring the radio team were kept “honest” with their player identification!

As well as enjoying the coverage of a hard-fought and entertaining game, listeners were able to celebrate a home win, when a late Tom Richardson try, converted by Sam Robinson brought a 22-20 result.

The station intends to cover more live games from Stourton before the end of the season, and provides comprehensive reports from all Stourbridge matches, home and away, during Parkes’ show.
