Stourbridge Announces Death of Past President
Stourbridge RFC is deeply saddened to announce the sudden death of Jack Standish, former 1st XV player and distinguished Past President of the Club.
Jack was one of Stourbridge's greatest treasures - a marvellous friend to many, renowned raconteur and dedicated supporter of Stourbridge Rugby. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his playing and Presidential roles he served the Club as Chairman of Selectors, Honorary Secretary and a Master of Ceremonies at many functions.
The Club extends its' most sincere condolences to his wife Anne and Jack's family.
In paying tribute to Jack, Dick Jeavons-Fellows, Stourbridge's Chairman, said: "This is a very sad day for the Club. Jack has watched over generations of sportsmen at Stourbridge with generous encouragement.
"Personally, I cherish those times at Century Club dinners when Jack had the room rolling with laughter and also the time spent chatting with him by the side of the first team pitch.
"He offered wise counsel often supplied with well-timed humour. His passing is a real loss felt throughout the Club and its' extended membership."
Details of funeral arrangements will be made known in due course.
